Search Engine Optimisation - what is i? How does it work? Can i do it myself?

I have attached for you a Search Engine Optmisation Guide from the Search Engine GOOGLE and is a must read for all of you interested in improving your organic rankings in google. This guide is for anyone who is interested in learning what it is about and who may be interested in undertaking the work themselves.

It does have 22 pages, but i thought it may be a document you may want to wade through (perhaps while with the inlaws over the xmas, new year festivities!?)

When reviewing clients websites, I always ask “How many unique visitors do you get on your website each day”?

Some clients I am glad to say know straight away and others sadly do not even have access to their website statistics. So how important is it to know how many visitors have looked at your website on a daily basis? Well let me give you an example:

Website - DIY Tips and Tricks

Posted by karen in Untagged

Karen MargerisonThere are some basic things you can do to gain higher rankings and i have listed some of these below. However if you really want to get to page one very quickly (remember if anyone tells you they can guarantee it, then watch out, as no-one can!) then i would suggest you put together a google adword campaign.

Website Home Page – Is it helping or hindering your company?

Posted by karen in Untagged

Karen MargerisonWhen meeting with a client to evaluate their current website, it is always interesting to find out why they want the evaluation done.

Is it because the number of visitors to your site has reduced or maybe the number of products sold online reduced, or maybe this is your first website and your business has grown and you do not know what the next step is.

The Power of the Internet

Posted by karen in Untagged

Karen MargerisonOn Wednesday evening I presented to a networking group of women in Richmond to talk about “The Power of the Internet”.

I have been doing these talks for two years now. But this time was very different. This time, I was on a mission. Why?

Well I have been helping individuals and companies build a presence online for nearly 5 years, but I wanted to educate people (especially women) about how important it is to have a web presence, but not just any web presence.

I am passionate about ensuring that when people invest money in a website, that they get it right therefore avoiding costly mistakes later.  Your website is part of your marketing plan and it is amazing how many people forget that.

So below I would like to share with you some of the questions I asked the group at the end of the presentation to do as research (homework). I hope these questions will either confirm that your website covers your business marketing plans, and if not, you can now move forward with refining your website to your marketing needs. ·

Write down who is your target market? ·
What do you want visitors to do when they visit your website? ·
Review the answers to the two questions above and compare with your current website, do they match?

Watch out for my weekly blogs when I will share with you more from my presentation.
Have a good weekend.
